A Look Back at 2005…

We are delighted to announce that 2005 was a very busy and successful year for the Boston Chapter Membership Committee!

We developed an aggressive recruiting campaign which consisted of updating the chapter brochure, creating new incentives, conducting an advertisement campaign, sponsoring our first telethon, coordinating a bulk mailing and organizing a Membership Table at the One Day Educational Conference in November.

Other recruiting efforts consisted of advertising the benefits of the ALA to the local legal community.  The ad in Lawyers Weekly brought awareness of our organization to Managing Partners and law firm executives.

We requested and received board approval to offer a 50% discount to first-time members and advertised the price reduction during our push to promote the ALA-Robert Half Legal 10,000th Member Pyramid Campaign.  The committee participated in the campaign by submitting an essay regarding our recruiting efforts.  The essay entitled, Who’s on First?,  written by Lorraine Curry, won an award from National ALA for Best 10-K Theme/Slogan for the ALA-Robert Half Legal 10,000th Member Pyramid Campaign.

We developed the Chapter’s first New Member Orientation Workshop and continued to host New Member Welcome Luncheons at various restaurants throughout the city.  The New Member Orientation Workshop consists of an interactive presentation in which new members are provided with an overview of the benefits of being an ALA member, the tools and resources available to them.

We look to National ALA’s mission of  improving the quality of management in legal services organizations; promoting and enhancing the competence and professionalism of legal administrators and all members of the management team; and representing professional legal management and managers to the legal community and to the community at large as inspiration for achieving our goals.

We eagerly look forward to another busy year!
